How to get an official job offer from a Canadian employer

How to work in Canada

Guess what is one of the most asked questions by everyone who either wants to come to Canada or is already in Canada. How Can I get a job offer? How can I work in Canada?

In order to work in Canada, you need to have a job offer. This is a requirement that most people find daunting and hard to obtain. Well, in order to find an official job offer from a Canadian employer, you must do the following. Please note, It will require time and research, but it will pay off in the end.

Networking

The simplest and easiest way to get a job offer and work in Canada is by networking. Check the surrounding network, close friends, relatives, or someone who you trust might know someone else who is in Canada. Knowing the right people can secure you a job offer. Regardless of the job offers, it will all depend on your future employer getting a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA, which used to be called LMO).

You might be wondering. What is an LMIA? It’s an authorization from the Ministry of Employment and Social Development of Canada, that allows you to hire a foreign worker for a job that cannot be filled by a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen. In this case, knowing the right people will not help, as LMIAs are solely based on the needs of the Economy of Canada.

Recruitment Job Agencies

Contact as many recruiting agencies, especially one specifying in your field of work. One word of advice, do not use a “headhunter”, these individuals are usually paid by the employer. Avoid any company that asks for money to pay for their services. There are not that many agencies oriented to hiring foreign workers. MDS Consulting does not endorse any employment agency.

Cold-calling and cold Emailing Employers

Call and email employers who fit your work experience. They might be looking for someone with your skills. When you do your research on the employer’s websites for the jobs you aim for, and you fit the job description on the posting. Take initiative and approach the employees, if they see how valuable you are. There won’t be a problem that you are overseas.
