Canada to remove molecular COVID-19 test requirement for travellers

Canada to remove molecular COVID-19 test requirement for travellers. Fully vaccinated travellers can now come to Canada with a pre-arrival antigen test, unvaccinated kids visitors don’t have to isolate for 14 days, and international flights to all Canadian airports will resume on February 28.

Furthermore, if a fully vaccinated traveller is selected for a random on-arrival test, the traveller will no longer have to quarantine while waiting for the results.

However, the antigen test must be approved by the country they are coming from, and taken no more than 24 hours before arriving at the border, or their scheduled flight. Travellers can still use a PCR test within 72 hours before arrival.

Canada to remove molecular COVID-19 test requirements for travellers. But, unvaccinated travellers still need to do the test upon arrival and quarantine for 14 days; as well as do another test on day eight of their quarantine.

Canada is adjusting its travel advisory from a level 3 to a level 2. This means the government will no longer recommend that Canadians avoid travelling for non-essential purposes.

Minister of Health in Canada, Duclos did announce that these measures are transitory and might change as the COVID-19 situation develops. Duclos has also suggested that if the hospitalization rates keep declining, more restrictions are going to be lifted.

Meanwhile, other provincial governments are lifting some of the COVID-19 measures that were already in place and doing away with vaccine passport requirements. Manitoba plans to lift COVID-19 restrictions by mid-March. Ontario moved up its timeline to lax public health measures. Quebec, Alberta, and Saskatchewan have also announced plans to lift some restrictions.
