How to find a job in Canada as a newcomer

Here is how to find a job in Canada easily and hassle-free.

Every year, the government spends about $2 billion on newcomer settlement assistance. All new permanent residents are eligible for these services. They visit approximately 500 different immigrant-serving organizations across the country.

These organizations exist to assist newcomers in achieving success in Canada, and they provide free IRCC-funded services. Work is a significant part of the services they provide. In order to find a job in Canada as a newcomer, you just have to follow these next steps.

Do research: Thousands of jobs are constantly every day on some of the most well-known Canadian job sites. Finding suitable jobs for you can be a time-consuming task. Instead, one thing you can do is conduct research for the category in which you excel. It may take longer to find jobs quickly, but using popular sites to do so, you will be more than satisfied.

Prepare your resume and cover letter: Drafting your resume is the most important factor in obtaining a suitable job. Furthermore, the Canadian resume is in a traditional format, and employers prefer to read the highlights of your work experience rather than a list of jobs you’ve held previously. Instead of showing the same resume for every job opportunity, it would be beneficial to polish your resume for each job opportunity you find to apply for.

Network: It is not a given that you will only be able to find work on popular job sites. You can advertise your job on social media sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook, which can help you find new opportunities and expand your network. Because the LinkedIn platform is brimming with recruiters, you should always begin networking on the platform by creating an interesting profile.

Get good references: Request a recommendation letter from your previous employers if you still have a connection with them. Assume your previous employers have a relationship with Canadian recruiters. Also, ask your family and friends if they know anyone who works for employers in Canada.

Apply: Apply in person or apply online through various social media outlets such Linkedin, Indeed, Ziprecruiter, Workopolis, bc jobs, work bc, job bank, and many more

Ace your interviews: It is a better option to brush up on the key tips for a better job interview while researching for the job. Always keep in mind the importance of knowing how to communicate effectively and how to read people’s body language. The first step toward a successful interview is to dress appropriately. Always choose professional attire that demonstrates your commitment to your company’s discipline.
