What’s a CAQ?

What is a CAQ? A majority of people wanting to stay temporarily in Quebec require a document called certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ), or Quebec Acceptance Certificate,  which is different than Quebec Selection Certificate (QSC) which is to stay permanently in Quebec. If a foreign national wants to study in Quebec for more than six month, you will need to apply for a CAQ. Apply for a CAQ.

Step by Step process

-You will need a LOA (Letter Of Acceptance) from a DLI (Designated Learning Institution) 

-Documents are different depending on your personal situation and country of origin

-CAQ Application will be submitted using the Immigration Quebec portal. Once the payment is completed, print the application, sign it and mail in the hard copy to Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI) only original signatures will be accepted, do not use electronic signatures are your application will be refused

-CAQ is received, you must apply for a study permit from the federal government 

CAQ Requirements

  • LOA 
  • Pay for all application fees
  • Making their studies their main activity
  • Ensure they have health insurance for the duration of their stay
  • Proof of funds for tuition and living expenses
