CANADA RAISES IMMIGRATION FEES

As a part of a regular update, the fees for all permanent residency applications are increasing on April 30, 2024. To account for inflation and the ever-increasing costs of providing programs and services, these fees are raised every two years to help manage growing program and service delivery costs and to keep up with ever-so-high inflation.

Here are the current and new fees for the Permanent Residency application

You might be asking, “ What is Permanent Residency?” Well, a person who relocated to Canada and gained permanent residence (PR) status is not yet a citizen of Canada. PRs are often foreign nationals, though some could be stateless.

The card for Permanent Residence (PR)

PR CARD

Your PR card is evidence that you are a permanent resident of Canada. When traveling from an adventure outside of Canada on a commercial vehicle (such as a bus, train, airline, or boat), you have to present your passport, PR card, and refugee document of travel.

Whenever driving a commercial vehicle back to Canada, apply for a permanent resident travel document (PRTD) if you are traveling outside of the country without a valid PR card.

Who can apply for Permanent Residency in Canada?

The Government of Canada has set a number of criteria that need to be fulfilled for one to be qualified for a PR visa. These standards include being at least eighteen years old, being criminally clear, passing the points-based immigration system, having sufficient funds to support oneself and your loved ones while in Canada.
