What is Canadian Culture and the importance to know?

What is Canadian culture? first let us dive into a brief history lesson. Canada is an immense landscape covering 9.98 million square kilometres with ten provinces and three territories extending from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean.

With this in mind, there are significant cultural differences across its regions. Canada became independent in 1867 and broke its colonial ties with Britain in 1982.

For one thing, Canada is a country with dual nationality (French and English), with its origins in the British Invasion of the French colonies in Quebec and Ontario in 1760.

As an illustration, these two Colonies dominate the country’s political and social problems. It has also divided some people. The French-speaking group is opposed to assimilation and vigorously defends their cultural roots and language.

Not to mention, Canada’s official languages are English and French. However; it is important to know that Canada has 60 different Aboriginal languages spoken all across by other Aboriginals.

Canada has a long agricultural and farming history that has resulted in food and animal product production. They are classified as “big eaters,” especially when it comes to meat.

In Canada, popular foods include poutine, a Quebec-style dish, and Canadian peameal bacon, made from brined pork loin and rolled into cornmeal. Maple syrup, pancakes, butter tarts, and doughnuts are pretty popular as well.

Canada is one of the world’s wealthiest countries, as a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It manufactures and exports a wide range of products, including natural forest products, manufactured goods such as automobiles, oil, and minerals.
